The BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) ensures ethical and sustainable practices in clothing manufacturing. Managed by amfori, it helps suppliers comply with labor standards, fair wages, and safe conditions. While not a certification, BSCI audits verify compliance, promoting transparency and continuous improvement. Many global brands require BSCI compliance to ensure responsible sourcing. For manufacturers alignment with standards like SA8000, WRAP, and Sedex (SMETA).

BCI

The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) promotes sustainable cotton farming by reducing environmental impact and improving farmer livelihoods. Unlike an organic certification, BCI cotton allows responsible pesticide use and aims for continuous improvement in water efficiency, soil health, and fair labor conditions.

Many global clothing brands prefer BCI-certified suppliers to meet sustainability goals. For manufacturers, sourcing BCI cotton ensures compliance with ethical standards.

SEDEX

Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) is a global platform that helps clothing manufacturers and brands manage ethical and social compliance in their supply chains. It is not a certification but a membership-based system that enables businesses to share audit reports and improve transparency.

The SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) assesses labor rights, health and safety, environmental impact, and business ethics. Many fashion brands require Sedex membership to ensure responsible sourcing. For manufacturers that aligns with standards like BSCI and SA8000.
